Learning can only be transformative when the role of teachers gets redefined wherein as facilitators they support the students to learn by designing ‘eqaul opportunity’ and creative environments. The teacher empowerment programme strives to enable teachers to evolve pedagogical practices that encourage critical thinking in students, versus the pursuit of a curriculam-driven learning structure. Quality teachers are the assets of any teaching unit. Kannur University conducted a three day ‘National Workshop on Professional development and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education’ under the banner of IQAC from 7-9 March, 2018 at Seminar Hall, Mangattuparamba campus. The participants of the workshop were permanent faculty of University teaching departments and 2-3 members from the affiliated colleges and the total streangth is 120 participants. The workshop was an opportunity for learning about Educational Planning, Capacity Building, Excellence and Equity in Higher Education, Curriculum Transformation, Integrating ICT in Higher Education, Internationalisation of Higher Education, Resrach Funding and Pedagogic Training for the teaching faculty.
